Trust is the foundation that many relationships are set on. BBB, Better Business Bureau, is enabling customers to set this base of trust with businesses and reassure them that the business is what they claim to be all about. Northwest Harvest is one of the fortunate businesses to be connected with BBB. The goal of Northwest Harvest is to provide nutritious food to those who are need in attempt to stop hunger. This organization is the only statewide non-profit organization in Washington, which is truly amazing considering how much help they are able to provide to people. BBB makes it certain that Northwest Harvest is a trustworthy and selfless organization that brings out the best in people. While volunteering for Northwest Harvest, I learned just how much the meals provided by Northwest Harvest mean to the people in need. Those who receive the food are grateful for the food, but they are even more grateful that there is still compassion within others and empathy to take time out of their day to help another in need.Looking towards BBB guaranteed that I was able to trust Northwest Harvest and their purpose.BBB is extremely involved with many businesses and their goal is to truly help customers find the best business fit for their wants as well as their needs. One of the main extra-curricular activities I am involved with is DECA. DECA helps students to develop skills that will help to prepare them for future jobs, and it also opens up many possibilities for students to reach their full potential. One of the sponsors for state DECA, which I am attending, is BBB. This sponsorship is extremely important, in light of the fact that it exemplifies just how dedicated and committed BBB is to bettering the future of businesses, as well as the people who will be entering businesses. After college I plan to pursue a career in neonatal nursing, which will involve interacting with families each day and making sure their needs are met, as well as making the difficult times they are going through as easy as possible. Volunteering forNorthwest Harvest was important to me because I believe that it has helped me to understand just how important a simple act of kindness is. Going into my future career I will take this lesson thatNorthwest Harvest has taught me and treat every member of every single family I meet with the same kindness and compassion that Northwest Harvest treats the members of their community with. Businesses thrive off of quality interactions with people and the morals and ethics behind their business; and one of the best ways to ensure a business is earnest is through BBB.

Tell us a little about yourself
I am involved in many extra curricular activites, such as National Honors Society, DECA, NEST varsity volleyball and varsity track. I am an extremely dedicated and diligent student and I love to hang out with family and friends. I am an outgoing and bubbly person that loves to be around people and make anyone laugh. I am the youngest of three children and I spend a lot of my time with family, my 2 cats and 3 horses. During the summer I love to be out on the lake, riding on the boat or going tubing and wakeboarding. I love to travel to many different places and I also enjoy reading. When I’m not able to travel to a new destination, I read a book to take me somewhere interesting.
List and explain any awards received related to academic achievement
I am valedictorian for my graduating class at West Valley High School, which required me to keep a 4.0 throughout all four years of high school and be dedicated and hardworking in every aspect of my schooling. Each season that I have done a sport I have received a scholar athlete award and so far I have received this award 7 times. This award is given out to students who have maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout the entire sports season.
Describe at least three school-related extra-curricular activities
I am a part of National Honors Society, NHS, which is a community service group that helps out the community. In NHS, we strive to make sure that our community is receiving all the help it can get, and we reach out to those who are less fortunate.
Another group I am a part of is DECA. In DECA, students compete against other schools for different business scenarios and we also help out with community service projects. One of the main goals in DECA is to prepare students for what life will be like in the real world and to prepare students to be ahead of the competition when going out for a job.
Another extra-curricular activity I am involved in is NEST. At West Valley High School, a program was started 2 years ago, which became known as NEST. This acronym stands for Nurturing, Encouragement, Support, and Togetherness, which are the four pillars that we want our school to be based on. The members of NEST all are a part of the group because a school wide survery was taken and the students who had their name mentioned the most for questions, such as “Who do you trust most within the school?” or “Who do you feel is an important person in your life?” were nominated to be in the club.
Explain at least one leadership role that you have held
In volleyball, I was the varsity captain my junior and senior year. I was also voted MVP for the team and I received the dig and dive award both my junior and senior year, which is for the best defensive player of the year. I also received 2nd team all league my junior and senior year, and my senior year I received honorable mention all state for 2A schools. As a captain I had to take on the responsibilities of keeping the team focused, but also making sure the environment was fun for my fellow teammates. I made sure that all the girls knew they had someone they could trust and come to if they had any issues and I focused on building a personal relationship with each and every one of my teammates.
